About Eureka Valley

Eureka Valley is a residential neighborhood in the city of San Francisco. The neighborhood is affluent and is dominated by single families and the LGBT community. In fact, the rainbow flag is proudly waved throughout this neighborhood to signify the LGBT pride.

When the Eureka Valley was first developed as a residential neighborhood, it was initially intended to be a working-class neighborhood. However, the job loss in the nearby factories and the migration of LGBTs into this area completely transformed the landscape of this community by the 1960s. In fact, this district elected its first openly gay politician in San Francisco in 1977.

Aside from being known as the home of the gay rights movement in San Francisco, Eureka Valley represents the true identity of San Francisco. The central location and easy access to public transportation systems contribute to making this one of the most coveted addresses in San Francisco. It is the perfect place to live if you want to enjoy a neighborhood with a small-town feel; at the same time, you can easily access the hot-spot destinations for bars, clubs and other shopping districts.

About Dolores Heights

Dolores Heights is a hilly neighborhood in San Francisco, California. It sits on the namesake hill wherein the neighborhood is built on. It is bordered by other notable parks and neighborhoods such as The Castro, Dolores Park, Noe Valley and Upper Market. One of the most distinctive features about this neighborhood is that it is built with many cul-de-sacs.

Due to the elevation of this neighborhood, the homeless population in this area is almost non-existent. This is true for its neighboring communities such as Mission District and The Castro. Due to the fact that the Twin Peaks block the strong winds and fog that San Francisco is known for, this is the ideal place to live in if you want to enjoy warm, sunny and fog-free days almost year round.

Dolores Heights is one of the affluent communities in this part of San Francisco. It is commonly confused as part of or the same as Eureka Valley/The Castro. However, these two neighborhoods are different and separate from each other. This neighborhood has an adequate mixture of Victorian homes, detached houses and apartment buildings. Many of the homes in this community date back to the late 19th and early 20th century.
